Which is best- split ACs or window ACs? Which one consumes less electricity? Which one is better from a maintenance point of view, and lastly, which one gives more cooling effect? If you are planning to purchase a new air conditioner, then these must be a few questions striking your mind.

There are many types and styles of air conditioners available in the market. When comparing window ACs with split ACs, we keep in mind the following points- their capacities, costs, designs, aesthetics, functionality, etc. These factors play a significant role in helping us make the selection. However, both ACs work on the same principle, but they are used in different places due to their different characteristics.

Split ACs have two indoor and outdoor units, whereas window ACs have a single unit that comprises of a capillary tube, evaporator, and cooling fan. Although split ACs have an advantage, they look way better than window ACs, and they are suitable for larger rooms, commercial spaces, and offices. In addition, they are available in three different types, suitable for mounting floors, also known as tower type ACs, wall mounting, and Cassette type AC.

The biggest disadvantage of using window ACs is that their size is directly proportional to tonnage capacity. Therefore, the higher the capacity, the bigger the size. Moreover, they are noisy compared to split ACs, and there is a security threat if the window is open, as someone can remove the air conditioner from outside and enter the house.

Both ACs are similar to each other, but differ in areas such as their aesthetics, design, and cost. Which AC you should buy depends mainly on the room size and location.

Four components are very important in any type of air conditioner ie. compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. This is the main component by which we can differentiate between a window and a split air conditioner.

An Inverter split air conditioner is a bit more complicated and expensive, its compressor is separate and not in the same box due to which there is no noise in it. It can be easily installed in any room, its compressor and condenser can be kept away from the room, and only the evaporator unit can be kept inside the room. Split air conditioners for indoor units are mostly rectangular.

1 Ton Inverter air-conditioner

1 Ton Inverter ac is suitable for small-sized rooms [70sq ft to 100sq.ft]. The energy consumption depends upon the energy ratings, 5-star inverter ACs offer great efficiency. Their annual energy consumption is from 600 to 800 units. There are many refrigerant gases used in AC, the most common gas is R32 [Environment friendly- no ozone depletion potential & low global warming potential].

So, finally, in India, if you want to buy an air conditioner, you have to note down a few bullet points. The weather throughout the year, average input voltage in your locality, annual energy consumption. In the end, you will take into account the size of your room where you want to install the AC.
